How to Wash and Dry Your Jeans

Take Good Care: 9 Tips For Making Your Denim Last
Check your garment care label first. This guide applies only to denim that is labeled washable. Do not apply these general washing or drying tips to waxed, coated or foil-finish styles unless the product-specific care instructions explicitly allow them. If instructions are unclear, contact info@hyperdenim.com before cleaning.
If you love your jeans as much as we do, you’ll want to keep them looking great. Use these tips only where they agree with your garment care label:
1. Wash Sparingly
The less you wash, the longer the color lasts. Air, dirt, and body oils add character. Some enthusiasts go years without washing!
2. Freshen Without Washing
Follow the garment care label when freshening your jeans. Do not add fabric sprays or use a dryer unless the product-specific instructions allow them.
3. Wash With Care
If machine washing is permitted, follow the label's temperature and detergent instructions. Turn jeans inside out and wash similar colors together. Use only the drying method allowed by the care label.
4. Handle White Jeans Gently
For white jeans, follow the garment label's washing, stain-treatment and drying instructions. Do not assume that hot water or tumble drying is suitable.
5. Skip Outdated Tricks
Do not assume every pair is pre-washed or shrink-resistant. Follow the care label for your specific fabric and finish.
6. Repair and Preserve
Minimize washing and drying to protect worn areas. Patch rips with old T-shirts for stretch, as natural wear adds character.
7. Avoid Overloading
Give jeans space in the washer to reduce friction and damage. Overloading can cause unnecessary wear.
8. Skip Fabric Softeners
Check the care label before using fabric softener or laundry additives. Do not add vinegar or other treatments unless the product-specific instructions allow them.
9. Use Gentle Cycles
If machine washing is permitted, use the cycle specified by the garment care label.
